Learn Our Approach

How We Got Here

Started in a Launceston co-working space with one whiteboard and too much coffee

2019
Early Days

Founded serionvaleth

Clare Pemberton noticed something odd: plenty of business owners could run successful operations but froze when looking at their own financial statements. She started teaching small workshops on weekends.

2021
Expansion

First Online Programme

Moved from in-person workshops to structured online courses. Turns out people across Tasmania wanted this without driving to Launceston every Saturday morning.

2023
Growth Phase

Australia-Wide Reach

Enrolled students from Perth to Brisbane. Added specialist courses for different industries because retail financial statements look nothing like manufacturing ones.

2025
Current Focus

New Curriculum Launch

Rolling out updated content for our September 2025 intake. More case studies from real Australian businesses, fewer theoretical examples from textbooks nobody reads.

What You'll Actually Learn

Our courses focus on practical analysis you can use Monday morning, not academic theory you'll forget by Tuesday

Financial statement analysis workspace with charts and reports

Balance Sheet Fundamentals

Learn what assets and liabilities actually mean for your business. We cover working capital, debt ratios, and why your accountant keeps mentioning current ratios during meetings.

Income statement review session with financial documents

Income Statement Deep Dive

Revenue recognition, gross margins, operating expenses. Sounds boring but it's how you spot problems before they become disasters. We use real Australian company examples throughout.

Cash flow analysis training materials and calculators

Cash Flow Analysis

The most misunderstood financial statement. We'll show you why profitable companies still run out of money and how to read cash flow patterns in your industry.

How We Teach This Stuff

Our approach to financial education differs from traditional accounting courses

Real Company Data

We use anonymized financial statements from actual Australian businesses. You'll work with retail, manufacturing, and service industry examples that look like what you see in your own business.

Pattern Recognition

Instead of memorizing formulas, we teach you to spot trends and anomalies. After a few weeks, you'll start seeing problems in financial statements the way a mechanic hears engine trouble.

Small Group Sessions

Maximum 15 students per cohort. You'll get actual feedback on your analysis, not automated quiz results. Our instructors have worked as CFOs, controllers, and business advisors.

Started Because Traditional Courses Missed the Point

Clare spent years explaining financial statements to business owners who'd glazed over during their accounting courses. The problem wasn't the students. The courses taught debits and credits when people needed to understand cash flow timing.

So we built something different. Our September 2025 programme runs for twelve weeks with weekly live sessions. You'll analyze actual financial statements, discuss what you're seeing with other business owners, and build skills you'll use immediately.

This isn't about becoming an accountant. It's about understanding what your accountant is telling you and asking better questions during board meetings.
